Don't bother me -- it is nap time!

Totem Bight, Part I

Since Grandma and Aunt Judy were't terribly tired after our walk around Ward Lake, we brought them to Totem Bight. My parents said that the Tlingit and Haida tribes are known for their totems. I'm not sure what totems are, I just know there are some weird looking trees at this place . . .

I was trying to run away from this scary tree, but Daddy caught me

I think Grandma and Aunt Judy were trying to break into someone else's house!

These must be awfully small humans as this door is pretty short

This is me again waiting for the humans to catch up

Grrrr! You can't catch me

Ward Lake

Daddy said we needed to entertain our guests, so what better way to do that than take them for a loooong walk and tire them out so they will go to sleep nice and early. We have lots of beautiful hiking trails to choose from here in Alaska, but Grandma and Aunt Judy and Daddy are not as rugged as Mommy and me, so we picked an easy trail around Ward Lake.

This is Ward Lake
This is me scouting up ahead to make sure there are no bears (I am not scared because I know they are hibernating now)

This is me waiting for the slow-pokes to cross the bridge (why are two-legged creatures so slow!?!)

They finally caught up to me.

Grandma and Aunt Judy were not that tired yet, so Mommy and Daddy brought us to a place called Totem Bight . . .

Uncle is Sad

I just wanted to give a shout out to my Uncle Kane. He is sad right now because he just broke up with his girlfriend. I personally don't know how this feels since my Daddy won't let me date yet, but Daddy says it is not a good feeling. Mommy tells me I shouldn't feel so bad for my Uncle since he was only dating her for a month or so, but I am a much kinder soul than my Mommy.

My Uncle Kane is the one in the middle. For all you single women out there, I think he is quite a catch . . . and he loves pugs! P.S. He was quite drunk in this picture so if he looks a little goofy, I can tell you he cleans up real nice. P.P.S. The guy on the right is my Uncle Kirk, and he is taken, so lay off ladies!

Let me in!

So Grandma and her best friend arrived last night to visit me (of course). They were tuckered out from playing with me and commenting on how cute I am so they went to sleep early. I had scratched on their bedroom door wanting to be let in, but Mommy heard me and locked me downstairs so I wouldn't wake them up.

This is me trying to escape the dungeon

Unfortunately, the door was closed. So here I am, waiting patiently until Grandma realizes I am missing.

Yay! They found me! Grandma is in the middle, Judy (Grandma's friend) is in the green sweatshirt. I am the cute one on the right.

I see Grandma taking out a cookie for me, so gotta go beg. By the way, babies are the stuffed animals that I love to destroy, starting with the squeaker . . .

Grandma's here

Grandma and her friend Judy arrived last night. Whoo-hoo! And they brought babies for me (although Daddy took them away immediately, saying I'll get them later) and cookies and treats from Traverse City, Michigan (that's where Grandma is from). I also got a little bling, which I will be modeling later. I am very tired from all the jumping and cuddling and treats and sniffing new butts, so I will post pictures later, when my nap is done.

Housecleaning

Grandma is coming! Grandma is coming! That means I am going to get totally spoiled. I find it strange how Mommy and Daddy decide that they need to clean the house once guests are scheduled to arrive. I try to tell them that all their guests want are some nice treats to eat. Anyway, Daddy was vacuuming and I was supervising . . .

This is me overseeing the cleaning.

This is me rewarding Daddy for a job well-done

Can't a pug get some sleep?

I am blogging to complain about my lack of sleep last night. We were all snuggly in the bed when Mommy's cell phone goes off @ 2am. She talks to someone on the phone and then we all go back to sleep. I am thinking . . . wrong number or someone from the East Coast who is up way too early and doesn't remember the time difference. And then -- ring --- it goes off again @ 3am! This time Mommy answers it and starts turning on the lights and getting dressed. So I am trying to snuggle under the covers and pillows to avoid that bright light and get some deserved beauty sleep. Noooo . . . Mommy has to flip the covers open to say good-bye to me and give me a kiss. I am thinking just because you have to get up and deprive yourself of sleep doesn't mean that that injustice has to be turned on me! I would have given her the scowl, but I was too tired. Luckily, Daddy provided a nice, warm comfy pillow for me to fall back asleep. Good ole Daddy!

Trip to Alaska

This is my Daddy driving us through Montana

This is me acting all cool, pretending that I do not have a extraordinary urge to pee after a 9 hour car ride.

So, I have been asked about my trip to Alaska. It wasn't my idea, first of all. I actually liked NYC -- plenty of interesting smells and nice dog runs. And every other dog I met was a pit bull or a little annoying Yorkie dog. But Daddy decided he didn't like the city life and he made Mommy look for another job somewhere else. So, somehow (I think they closed their eyes and threw darts at a map of the USA), Mommy found a job in Ketchikan, Alaska. And being the sane people my parents are, they thought: wouldn't it be fun to drive cross-country to Washington and take a 2 day ferry to Alaska. I was obviously out-voted. Humans do NOT listen to voices of reason.

Long journey, short, we are in Ketchikan. Very different, mostly being it rains ALOT. But it is quite beautiful and Mommy and I go out on long hikes. Not too many people here in this town -- Mommy says about 10,000. Daddy says Alaska has less than 1 million people. There are other pugs here -- not too many, though. Most of the other dogs I meet are labs and various other big dog breeds. One thing that makes me nervous are the eagles -- lots of them here. Mommy and Daddy are especially careful about them when we go walking because they can pick up small dogs and carry them away. That is why I am trying to eat as much as I can and weigh ALOT so at least I can give them an eagle hernia if they try to fly away with me.

Daddy loves it here -- he teaches people how to breathe underwater in this strange black outfit with tanks strapped to their backs. Mommy calls it scuba diving, but it looks awfully odd to me. Why would anyone want to go under water?!?

Rainy Sunday

UGH! It was raining and blowing hard enough for a pug to fly through the sky! I don't like going out in the rain, so Mommy bought me this raincoat. But she doesn't know that I hate the raincoat more -- it is so embarrassing walking by other dogs in the bright yellow coat. I showed her -- we walked to the front yard and then I sat down and refused to walk anymore. Mommy got all wet trying to pull me along. That'll show her who's boss . . .

Ooo -- I see a bone being brought out of the fridge. See you all later . . .

Beach time

It was a rare sunny day today so Mommy and Daddy brought me to the beach. Here I am running on the beach and here is a beautiful picture of the beach itself. I tried to find some dead fish or crab to eat . . . living off the land. But I couldn't find anything so Mommy gave me a treat instead.

Mommy's Home!

This is me and my Daddy

Mommy just came home from another island called Petersburg. She bought Daddy a gift but didn't get me anything! Can you believe that? I would have thought at least a bone or a chocolate bar, but nooooo. I think I will have to snuggle closer to Daddy tonight to give Mommy the cold shoulder, so to speak.

Mommy was afraid that I would be lonely without her here; she usually plays and runs with me because Daddy says he has bad knees. Little did she know that I am a cuddly magnet -- Daddy had a student over and she couldn't resist me (of course). I was sitting in her lap all evening!

Hello All!

My name is Frances Louise and my parents have FINALLY gotten tired of me pestering them to start my blog. About time they acknowledge who is boss around here.

All this bugging and begging has gotten me tired so it is nap time!
